After many years of dedication to formulating superb Eden Valley Riesling, Elderton have again achieved an excellent expression of the genre, paradoxically the most underrated style of wine in Australia. Small harvests of fruit which show wonderful primary, zesty characters and delicate acid structures are the foundation. Elderton»

All Saints store their ageing fortifieds in the Great Hall, an area of a castle built in the 1880s, and lined with huge 100-year-old oak casks, filled with rare wines. Some of these fortified wines are up to eighty years old and form the base of the rich fortified All Saints blends. All Saints»
From one of the Coonawarra's most illustrious viticulturalists, Punters Corner is home to the 2000 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. The wines are identifiably Coonawarra in style, vinified from the pick of the estate's crop every year. Punters Corner»
An ambassador of the uniquely Australian sparkling Shiraz genre, since inaugural release, E&E have amassed staggering acclaim, winning trophys at the London Internationa, and rating in the Wine Spectator’s Top 10. "Disconcerting as it may be, E&E seem to be delivering along a vector of steadily rising - in terms of unparallelled quality - sparkling shiraz that are reaching stratospheric levels of notoriety. Barossa Valley Estate»

From- Greenstone Point
Varietal- SauvBlanc
Region- Marlborough / NewZealand
The Greenstone Point winemakers are as fastidious at their vineyard management as they are at putting their philosophy of minimalist winemaking intervention into practice. This wholesome and ripely flavoured Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown at vineyards on either end of the Rapaura Road right within the very heart of Marlborough. The 2006 Greenstone Point Sauvignon Blanc displays broadly layered fruit characters, superb tropical aromas and enticing hints of bell pepper. The palate is round and full with a persistent finish. A wine to be enjoyed over the next two to three years.

During winter the Greenstone vignerons set the following year’s crop up by individually cane pruning each individual vine by hand, a very labour intensive effort that produces supreme grapes necessary for the crafting of quality Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit was harvested in the cool of the night and transported to the winery for immediate processing. After a gentle pressing the juice was settled before being racked to fermentation. Then wine then underwent innoculation with yeast and cool fermentation for 17 days. Following two months of lees contact the wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling. Alcohol 13% pH 3.26 Sugar 2.8 g/L

Bottle $14.99 Dozen $179.88

Deep pale straw with a tinge of lime rind in colour. Aromas of gooseberry, tropical citrus and pineapple. There are twirling deep bouquets of hillside floral twists, heather, lavendar and clover. A broad palate full of persimmon and passionfruit, light tart caramelly nuances and, twists of white chocolate, apple and sweet green olive. A beautifully harmonious acid wash that balances out the ample fruit and leads to a stoney, cooling long and relaxed fine finish. Enjoy this wine now or cellar for a rainy day

Greenstone Point

Greenstone Point vineyards are located within the renowned Marlborough wine region of New Zealand

Marlborough is well worth a visit not only famous for its famous wines, but also its picturesque coastline of the Marlborough Sounds, featuring many sheltered bays and harbours. Greenstone Point Winery started in 1997 as a joint venture company, Greenstone Point now has its own vineyard in Marlborough and produces wine from the company owned vineyards as well as selected Marlborough growers. Currently Greenstone Point produces around 15,000 cases per annum.

To date Greenstone Point wines have found an overwhelmingly favourable response throughout New Zealand, Australia, the USA and the United Kingdom. Greenstone Point management have ambitious plans for the company, the goal being to acquire more land for planting and to be a dominant middle sized New Zealand wine company offering premium wines at value for money price points.

The Greenstone Point winemakers hold a passionate belief that great wine is made in the vineyard, consequently a real emphasis is placed on vineyard management. This is done by intensive canopy management during the summer, beginning with VSP trellising systems. The labour intensive vineyards management allows the winegrowers to carry out practices such as shoot positioning, shoot spacing, shoot thinning, leaf plucking and fruit thinning.

Throughout winter the following year’s crop is prepared by individually cane pruning each individual vine by hand. Very labour intensive stuff but central to the philosophy that the best possible fruit is necessary for the crafting of the highest possible quality wines.

The Greenstone Point Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc are sourced from the winery's estate vineyards as well as local growers. Gently pressed and settled prior to undergoing a cool fermentation they both display the floral aromas and lively tropical highlights that have made Marlborough the international ambassador of New Zealand's wines.

The Chardonnay is from vineyard sites in Marlborough and Waipara. After a gentle pressing, a portion undergoes 50% wood fermentation and extended lees contact to develop rich and creamy characters. The Greenstone Point Pinot Noir is hand plunged three times per day and spends an average of 13 days on skins. This is a beautifully balanced Marlborogh Pinot which displays rich earthy and berry fruit flavours.
