Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon by Penfolds of Barossa Valley, Coonawarra. Sweet, leather, spice and meaty aromas with some intense liquorice, almost porty nuances. 1975 was the year Max Schubert retired from his post as Chief Winemaker, although he remained a consultant to Penfolds and kept an office at Magill Estate. Max Schubert retired as Chief Winemaker at Penfolds, but remained involved as a mentor and Winemaker Emeritus for another 20 vintages. Could soften out.
