From parcels of Pinot Noir, planted to the foot of tailings, left behind by waves of prospectors who pursued their fortune amongst the open pits and mines on Adelaide Hills during the gold rush of the 1850s. Crushed and destemmed straight into the press with minimal time on skins to extract the perfect pink, its blushing lipstick hues presage a cornucopia of lifted strawberry and cherry blossom characters, ruby grapefruit and luscious jube over a length of tasty, toothsome tannins, the perfect Rosé for lazy afternoons or late night soirées. De Bortoli hold an extensive collection of barrel aged wines. Stocks of fortified and botrytised Semillon are drawn on from time to time to assemble into a wickedly decadent wine of rare opulence. De Bortoli»
Enthused by a consuming desire to make great wine, Andrew Nugent honed his craft as viticulturalist and winemaker amongst the vines of McLaren Vale before returning to the Adelaide Hills, where he established his very own wineworks at Woodside. Hand crafted from fruit grown to mineral rich soils above the historic Bird in Hand gold mine, a pure Pinot Noir with superb effervescence, dominated by red berry characters, adorned by a lift of stonefruits and floral.. An assemblage of clones MV6 Pinot Noir from the Mount Gisborne vineyard at Macedon, alongside Pinot clone D5V12 from Chanter’s Ridge at Woodend. By the winner of the 2014 Jimmy Watson Trophy! During his time as chief red wine maker at Hardy's, Stephen Pannell became intmate with many of the greater Adelaide region's most splendid sites. A predominantly Syrah wine with a de rigueur inclusion of good Viognier, all picked off a superior low yielding Adelaide Hills vineyard. SC Pannell»
Campbell's Topaque is the most wickedly intense, lusciously rich elixer, laden with candied peel flavours, honeycombed fruit and amber complexities. Painstakingly crafted to the old world Solera system, a bespoke tradition of fractional blending and elevage, achieving the most indulgent concentration of flavour through a laborious racking of barrels as the angels take their share. Campbells»
The top shelf in toothsome and dulcetly fragrant, fruit forward frizzante wines, fashioned for those who know what they like and take their Moscato seriously. Brown Brothers make the best Moscato in the land, their dedicated Muscat vineyards have been trained to deliver harvests of the most luscious fruit. Brown Brothers»
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The locals around the Lovedale property say that the sandy soils are so poor, that even the rabbits have to bring a tucker box just to survive! The lean and mean terroir is elemental to the long lived, fine boned style. Mount Pleasant»

Yabby Lake

http://www.yabbylake.com/ - Yabby Lake - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
Yabby Lake Vineyard was established in 1998 on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, with the long-term goal of producing benchmark wines from the Burgundian varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by Robert and Mem Kirby who have been intimately involved in the Mornington Peninsula region for decades. The Kirbys are joined by two outstanding and renowned winemakers: Group Winemaker Tod Dexter and Consulting Winemaker Larry McKenna. Tod and Larry are known for their relaxed and unassuming personalities, and they apply the same approach to their winemaking: they work with the grapes to develop beautiful and distinctly superior wines that are truly expressive of Yabby Lake Vineyard. The first vintage from Yabby Lake Vineyard was produced in 2002.

Significant resources have been devoted to developing Yabby Lake's vineyard to the highest possible standard. Regional and national experts were consulted on every aspect of the vineyard's establishment from soil mapping to climate analysis to vine layout. Careful selection of plant clones has meant that the winemakers at Yabby Lake Vineyard now have a diversity of grapes to work with. Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by the Kirby family and they are supported by a remarkable team who are equally passionate about the vineyard, the grapes, and their long-term goal of producing the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Australia.

The stunning Mornington Peninsula is a patchwork of small premium wineries and vineyards. Located 60 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, the region is virtually surrounded by sea and enjoys a cool maritime climate. Established in 1998, Yabby Lake Vineyard is planted on one of the regions premier vineyard sites.

Positioned on a north-facing slope, the vineyard site captures maximum sunshine while being exposed to cooling sea breezes

Inspired by the classic wines of Burgundy, Yabby Lake Vineyard wines are a tribute to the unique Mornington Peninsula terroir, and the skills and experience of winemakers Larry McKenna and Tod Dexter. Their collaborative approach to winemaking, combined with Yabby Lake Vineyard's long-term commitment to producing the finest of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, have resulted in the creation of two remarkable wines.

The combination of a warm site in a cool region means the Yabby Lake Vineyard grapes ripen early to produce wines of outstanding quality.
