A vineyard of some historical import, Bernoota is the original block, planted to the Follett family homestead along the banks of River Bremer, two decades before federation. A splendid construct of Langhorne Creek Shiraz Cabernet, selected from old vines around the distinguished Follett family vineyard, perennially released to resounding accolades. Lake Breeze»
From parcels of Pinot Noir, planted to the foot of tailings, left behind by waves of prospectors who pursued their fortune amongst the open pits and mines on Adelaide Hills during the gold rush of the 1850s. Crushed and destemmed straight into the press with minimal time on skins to extract the perfect pink, its blushing lipstick hues presage a cornucopia of lifted strawberry and cherry blossom characters, ruby grapefruit and luscious jube over a length of tasty, toothsome tannins, the perfect Rosé for lazy afternoons or late night soirées. Bird In Hand»
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The locals around the Lovedale property say that the sandy soils are so poor, that even the rabbits have to bring a tucker box just to survive! The lean and mean terroir is elemental to the long lived, fine boned style. Mount Pleasant»
Bleasdale are Australia's second oldest family owned winery, established 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts. Potts built much of Adelaide's early colonial works before settling down to his homestead at Langhorne Creek. Bleasdale»
Adam Jackson bought the first blocks of land at the heart of Marlborough and took up farming in 1855. His wife planted a gumtree along Jacksons Road, it remains a regional icon and can be seen on the Jackson estate label. Jackson Estate»
Blue Pyrenees were established through a no expense spared approach, by two of the wine world's most revered, accomplished and resourced estates. A superior standard of viticulture and exacting vinification techniques were the priority, they remain at the very core of the Blue Pyrenees raison d'être. Blue Pyrenees»
Stoney Rise is all about drinkability, the creation of complex, fully approachable food friendly wines, without any excessive oak or overripeness. Pinot Noir goes into the oldest barrels available to soften the tannins and refine textures without overpowering the sensual fruit characters. Stoney Rise»
A Coonawarra Shiraz of elegance and finesse, Penley's vintages are regularly awarded with prestigious international trophies and accolades, outclassing some of the nation's icon wines. A splendid effort exhibiting generous varietal fruit and spiced pepper, perfumes of good French oak and plenty of flavour. Penley Estate»
The term Terra rossa means red earth, a rich, free draining soil that is considered by many as the viticultural equivalent of discovering gold. Beneath the strata of red earth at Wrattonbully sits a layer of ancient limestone, a winegrower's dream as it allows free drainage of water, yet ensures vine roots stay close to the surface, putting natural stress on the vine and limiting its vigor and yield. Smith Hooper»
Villa Maria possess the magic touch with Pinot Gris, regularly clearing international wine events of prestigious trophies. Private Bin has been included in the Decanter Top 50 Best Under £10 and identified as a Decanter favourite. Villa Maria»
Originally released in 1976, the Koonunga Hill range has established a sound reputation for quality and consistency, while availing red wine enthusiasts of the opportunity to approach the enduring Penfolds style. The inaugural 1976 vintage of Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet was a legendary wine, still drinking well at Penfolds red wine recorking clinics. Penfolds»
The inaugural release of Hanging Rock Shiraz was vintage 1987 and what an event it was, immediately claiming gold and inspiring comparisons to Grange by the industry press. From from fruit grown to the estate Athols Paddock, a complex Heathcote style, more Syrah than Shiraz, boasting several trophies and over fifty gold to its distinguished history, big, powerful and rich, yet exhibiting an elegance and finesse that's rare in Australian wine. Hanging Rock»

Reschke

http://www.reschke.com.au/ - Reschke - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
The Reschke history and its close relationship with Coonawarra began over a century ago with the establishment of a farming and grazing enterprise

It is cattle grazing heritage that is reflected in the Reschke logo of the bull. Four generations later in 1989 Burke Reschke embarked on a development of estate vineyards in what is still primarily a cattle property. The demand for the Reschke wine grapes throughout the nineties saw the fruit being used for some of Australia's Icon wines. In 1998 a selection of the most outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon parcels was released under the first Reschke label Empyrean.

Reschke is sited on the unique Terra Rossa soils, seven kilometres northeast of the township of Coonawarra. The vineyard developments, which have grown to 360 acres, consist primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, there is also a selection of Merlot, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, all nurtured and cropped particularly low to achieve the highest quality fruit.

Combine a young, dynamic team committed to excellence in producing the finest wines, with Australia's premium growing region and one of the country's most acclaimed winemakers and it's easy to see why Reschke is setting new industry benchmarks. Believing that the quality of wine is largely determined in the vineyard, Reschke's vineyard team employ cutting edge viticulture practices to ensure vines consistently produce outstanding fruit from which Peter Douglas creates his masterpieces.

The vines are meticulously nurtured; vertical shoot positioned and trellised using a single cordon. By keeping bud numbers controlled (approximately 35-40 buds per vine) through careful hand pruning; yields are heavily restricted and are often less than 2 tonnes per acre. With shoot selection upwards and restricted growth the vines are allowed to sprawl naturally which allows a good, even dappled light into the canopy interior.

Reschke encapsulates the true essence of the Coonawarra. A responsibility they take seriously and with pride. Blending a heritage in the finest Cabernet growing landscape of Australia with a strictly managed vineyard, they allow the Coonawarra to express its distinctive allure. Reschke takes great pride in the attention to detail that sets them apart and brings pleasure to lovers of wine.

Reschke, innovative and uncompromising, is seen as being a leader in this field with vineyard management case studies being conducted by thrid parties in a path toward best practice. Superior viticultural practices are practised to ensure yields are kept low and optimum flavour profiles are achieved. Reschke has a preference for minimal use of fertilisers and only when they are required, also a preference for using organic nutrient blends are used to stimulate optimum levels of bacteria and fungi in the soil. Preventative programs are preferred methods in regards to pest, disease and weed management. A state of the art computerised under vine drip irrigation system, sourcing water from underground aquifers, has been installed to the entire vineyard ensuring vines are never under or over watered and function at optimum levels at all times.

Reschke's cutting edge techniques are directed at consistently producing the most outstanding fruit. The superlative wine grapes are small, thick skinned berries expressing pure Coonawarra characters. Whilst much of Reschke's production is fins it's way into some of the nation's most esteemed wines, the estate retains the very best of the best fruit for it's own brand. A guarantee of the quality, purity and eminence of the wines bearing the bull-calf label, a reminder of the Reschke family’s cattle grazing heritage.
