After several decades of crafting Australia's most memorable vintages, Mike Press is more sanguine than ever that great wine can only come from the finest vineyards. His dedicated hands on approach means that he is personally involved in every stage of the winemaking, from pruning the vines and inspecting grapes, right to plunging the ferments and bottling his finished wine. Mike Press»
Fox Creek began to flow when a group of medicos decided to realize a lifelong passion and create the best possible wines out of bare earth and sunshine. The Fox Creek vineyards were established from the ground up to be the most environmentally friendly, whilst the vines themselves are spoiled with attention. Fox Creek»
A flagship Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon which claims distinguished national and international accolades with every vintage. The Watershed label was designed by Roland Butcher and incorporates a purple room with a four paned window on the wall. Watershed»
The first and final word in world class Barossa Cabernet, aged in a luxurious selection of completely new French oak hogsheads. The Ashmead block is so low yielding that it was almost gutted and re established to more productive plantings. Elderton»
What makes a great vintage for Hunter Valley Semillon? Most would say one without flooding rain, ravaging fires or devastating drought. While this is certainly important, balance in the wine reigns supreme. Brokenwood»
Elderton Cabernet was winner of the prestigious Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy in 1993, the following years it claimed back to back Gold and Trophy at the Barossa Wine Show. The 1994 vintage gave Elderton its first international Gold medal in London, an unbroken tradition of remarkable vintages have embossed the Elderton Estate name as a national champion, being chosen by Qantas for service in first class. YarraLoch Arneis $22.99 / $275.00 12
[ Back ]
Available by the dozen
Arneis by Yarraloch of Yarra Valley. Traditionally fresh, bright and fruity with characters of pear, apple and almond. The Italians named the variety Arneis because it means little rascal, a difficult grape to manage in the vineyard and rarely cultivated in great amounts. It can successfully be argued that nobody knows fine wine like investment bankers, YarraLoch's Stephen Wood is a case in point. A sophisticated alternative to simpler, more popular table whites, ideal with oysters, fresh seafood, olives and antipasto.

Unashamedly inspired by the great wines of Europe, the singular focus of YarraLoch is to create world class Yarra Valley wines, distinguished for their elegance, balance and complexity

At YarraLoch the vineyards are managed with the aim of producing the best wines, made to the highest level of care, the most exacting standards and attention to detail. Australian vineyards typically grow all their grape varieties on the same site. They might do one or two good wines but the rest are ordinary. You need to suit the variety to the site. YarraLoch's Stephen Wood intuitively understood that unique microclimes are suited to different wine grapes and established his operations astride three unique sub regions of the Yarra Valley.

He identified terroirs that suited the wines he wanted to make. The coldest is Whittlesea, where he grows chardonnay, merlot and shiraz, in the hope it will give him the peppery Northern Rhone-style fruit. The hottest is Kangaroo Ground, between Eltham and Tullamarine, where he grows cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. Between the two, climatically, is Coldstream, where YarraLoch grows 4½ hectares of pinot noir and chardonnay on a steep, north-facing slope.
