The Daisy Hill district thrived throughout the 1850s, due to its location along the main route to and from gold fields. The Amherst property sits atop old alluvial tailings, ancient diggings can still be seen around the property dressed in rich quartz soils. Amherst»
Tio Pepe is the world's leading Fino, a very pale and dry style of wine made in the southwest of Spain. Produced since 1844 by the Gonzalez family of Jerez, Tio Pepe has a distinctive aroma and a unique taste. Tio Pepe»
Twice Gold Medal Challenge International du Vin! Moscatel and Gewürtztraminer grapes, grown to estate vineyards on the mountains of the Upper Penedes, form the backbone of fruit for Viña Esmeralda, a delicate but strunningly fragrant wine. The dry fig and raisin characters of Moscatel de Alejandría give Esmerelda it's luscious and flavourful palate, fleshed out by the orange of Frontignac or Moscatel de Grano Menudo as the Spanish say, further enhanced by the complex aromaticness and spice of the vivacious Traminer.. Torres»
A mostly Cabernet wine with a tenth of Merlot, a jot of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, representing almost a third of Hollick's annual production. Previous vintages of Tannery Block have won numerous prestigious awards, including the pre-eminent Jimmy Watson, Robert Bryce and Arthur Kelman Trophies. Hollick»
Like an uncut diamond, the Chardonnay grape lends its sparkle to the Ruinart wines. In the constant pursuit of perfection, the Ruinart House excels in the art of handling this very special grape variety. Ruinart»
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The locals around the Lovedale property say that the sandy soils are so poor, that even the rabbits have to bring a tucker box just to survive! The lean and mean terroir is elemental to the long lived, fine boned style. Mount Pleasant»
Pete Yealands is a natural viticulturalist, happiest at work on the land, he has established many of Marlborough's most splendid vineyards. Single site Awatere Pinot Noir from an exposed terrace on the upper ridge of Seaview Vineyard, planted to some marvelous Dijon clones. Yealands Estate»
Peter Lehmann has always been Riesling's most outspoken advocate, he has claimed best Riesling trophy at the prestigious London International on more occasions than any other, he declares Riesling to be his wine of choice if marooned on the proverbial desert island. Early picking of fruit from a superior single vineyard in the salubrious climes of Eden Valley has produced a fresh, lively Riesling, expect this captivating wine to exhibit genuine charm and offer great longevity as it narrowly missed being bottled behind Lehmann's flagship Riesling label.. Peter Lehmann»
An assemblage of clones MV6 Pinot Noir from the Mount Gisborne vineyard at Macedon, alongside Pinot clone D5V12 from Chanter’s Ridge at Woodend. A mix of whole bunches and gently destemmed fruit are treated to a traditional, wild indegenous yeast open top ferment, hand plunged thrice daily, befor pressing to French oak hogsheads for completion of malolactic and fourteen months maturation. Originally planted during early settlement, the sandy loam soils of Haan Vineyard yield an outstanding quality of Shiraz. Fortuitously positioned along the hallowed mile of Siegersdorf Road, mid way between the ancient winegrowing hamlets of Angaston and Tanunda, the heirloom parcels once known as Hanenhof, have claimed significant trophies at the prestigious London International. Haan»
Given the scarcity of Best's prestige, limited release, old vineyard icons, Bin #1 affords enthusiasts their first taste of the Great Western Shiraz style and leaves them eager to discover more. A classic, cool climate, aromatic wine, floral and spicy, peppery and elegant, retaining vital Great Western fruit character. Bests»

Tar Roses

http://www.tarandroses.com.au/ - Tar Roses - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
Don Lewis joined Colin Preece for Mitchelton's first vintage in 1973, and assumed the winemaker's mantle in 1974 when Preece retired

After thirty years of leadership at Mitchelton and auspicious winemaking in the Spanish region of Priorat, 150 kilometres south-west of Barcelona, Don Lewis made the decision to pursue the Tar & Roses label, a collaboration with protegee Narelle King. Lewis adores the tannins, structure and distinct expressiveness of Spanish wines. Grapes are from vines grown to elite Heathcote vineyards, much of which must be hand picked, all components are treated separately during their fermentation and maturation. The larger volume of shiraz comes from richer Cambrian soils, while the smaller parcel is grown to much tougher grantic soils.
